Council of the Haida Nation

The Council of the Haida Nation (CHN) table is negotiating tripartite reconciliation agreements. On August 13, 2021, CHN and the governments of Canada and British Columbia signed the GayG̱ahlda "Changing Tide" Framework for Reconciliation agreement.

The Council of the Haida Nation has a constitutionally established definition of its citizenship through its Constitution of the Haida Nation. CHN negotiates on behalf of all of its citizens, its structure which includes participation of representatives directly elected by its citizens to the CHN, and representatives of both Haida band councils, Old Massett Village Council and Skidegate Band Council. There are approximately 4,900  Haida members.

Council of the Haida Nation traditional lands and waters encompass Haida Gwaii. CHN continues to formalize agreements with neighboring First Nations regarding respective marine territorial boundaries.
