Tsimshian First Nations

The Tsimshian First Nations are in varying stages of treaty negotiations. Kitselas and Kitsumkalum negotiate together and are in Stage 5 negotiations; Metlakatla is in Stage 5 negotiations; Gitga'at is in Stage 4 AIP negotiations, and Kitasoo/Xaixais remains inactive. For an update on the table please refer to our latest annual report. 

Tsimshian traditional territory spans the northwest coast, including the Prince Rupert and Terrace areas. There is approximately 3,910 members total from the five Tsimshian First Nations.

The Tsimshian First Nations have overlapping and/or shared territories with its First Nation neighbours: Gitxsan, Haida, Heiltsuk, Lax Kw’alaams, Gitxaala, Nisga’a, and Wet’suwet’en.
